This course is being offered as a result of the ongoing collaboration between The AgraLiving Institute and Jonathan Lightbourne from Nature's Compass
Workshop attendees will first learn about the basic principles of permaculture as well as discussing the ethics that guide it.
Participants will then explore the benefits the Herb Spiral design has to offer before being given the opportunity to apply their knowledge practically by building, and planting a herb spiral.
Why should you consider including an herb spiral in your garden?
The Herb Spiral is an application of a small permaculture design developed by observing patterns in nature. The design has numerous benefits which include, and are not limited to:
- increasing the use of vertical space
- leveraging the “edge effect” principle
- creating multiple microclimates in a small area
- can be applied in an urban environment
- reducing the energy required to create surplus (i.e. your energy!)
All participants will be given a FREE herb spiral plan to use at home!
